Why Working with a Sleep Consultant Can Be a Better Fit Than Sleep School
As a mum myself — and someone who’s helped thousands of families through tricky sleep stages — I know how overwhelming it can feel when your baby just won’t sleep and nothing seems to help. When you’re exhausted from frequent nighttime wake ups or early morning rising, you’ll do anything for a stretch of solid sleep… and sleep school can seem like the only answer.
But I want you to know: there’s another way.
Here’s why I believe working with a sleep consultant (like me!) can be a gentler, more effective option for many families:
1. You stay at home, where your baby sleeps best
Sleep school usually means packing up, heading into a hospital or clinic, and trying to get your baby to learn new habits in a totally unfamiliar environment. For some babies, that works — but for may be, it’s stressful for them and you!
Working together in your own home means we’re building better sleep habits where your baby actually sleeps. We’re not relying on routines that work in a facility — we’re creating routines that make sense for your real life.
2. It’s personalised to your baby and your lifestyle
No two babies are the same. What worked for someone else’s baby might not work for yours. When I work with families, I look at everything — your baby’s temperament, sleep history, daily routine, and your parenting style — and I create a plan that fits.
And we adjust it together as we go. Because let’s be honest — babies don’t read the manual.
3. You’re not doing it alone
I don’t hand you a plan and leave you to figure it out at 2 AM. I’m here for daily check-ins, the rough nights, the “Is this normal?” questions. I’m walking this with you.
That kind of ongoing support can make all the difference when you’re tired and second-guessing everything.
4. You keep your bond strong
Some parents worry that getting help with sleep means leaving their baby to cry alone or disconnecting from them. That’s not how I work.
My approach is responsive, respectful, and always centred on your relationship with your baby. You don’t have to choose between sleep and connection — you can have both.
5. It's flexible
Sleep school is a big commitment, both financially and emotionally. Working with a consultant gives you options: one-off calls, step-by-step support over a few weeks, or something in between. We can find what suits your family best.
If you're considering getting support with sleep, but the idea of sleep school feels a bit too much, or not quite right for your baby, I’d love to chat with you.
There’s no pressure, no judgment, just support from someone who gets it.
You can get your evenings back. You can feel like yourself again.
And I’m here to help.
